Electric shower installation cost in Bolton & Wigan
Swapping a like-for-like electric shower is a short job. Fitting one where there wasn’t one before, or fitting a more powerful one, usually means a new circuit back to the consumer unit, and that is where the cost goes.

What changes the price

- An electric shower is one of the biggest loads in a house; an old board may need replacing.
How long it takes
A like-for-like swap is usually a few hours. A new circuit can take most of a day, depending on the cable route.
Rules and certificates
A new circuit, or new work in the zones around a bath or shower, is notifiable under Part P, so use a registered electrician. A straight like-for-like replacement on a suitable existing circuit is usually not notifiable, but it should still be tested.
Questions people ask
Can I fit a more powerful shower on my old cable?
Only if the cable and protection are rated for it. The electrician will check the cable size and the circuit breaker before saying yes.
Do I need an electrician and a plumber?
Often one person can do both on a straight swap. A new installation usually needs both skills.
